Automated Pallet Handling System Types

Load Transfer Stations (LTS)

Load Transfer Stations (LTS) are used to transfer goods from one pallet type to another, such as wooden to plastic or pallet to slip-sheet, and can be found in both receiving and shipping applications. In the receiving environment, LTS helps prevent contamination from entering production areas, while in the shipping application, it helps retain good quality pallets in-house. LTS is available as a stand-alone unit or as a fully automatic unit integrated into a larger system. It can help your plant become compliant with FSMA, HACCP, and GMP, eliminate injuries, streamline plant and warehouse operations, and reduce costs.

Floor-Level Palletizers

Floor-level palletizers feature infeed entry levels between 30” and 36”. As goods move through the infeed conveyor, a built-in device automatically turns the products before continuing into the row-forming space. Once the rows are complete, products travel to the layer-forming area where the palletizer pushes the new layer atop the existing one.

High-Level Palletizers

High-level palletizers may have an infeed entry level from 84” to 124”. Products go through a similar flow as the floor-level palletizers to orientate them. However, the pallet is raised and lowered to the layer stripping area to build the pallet load at a high elevation. Once the load is complete, the pallet is lowered to the discharge elevation, typically between 18” to 30”.

Robotic Palletizers

Robotic palletizers can be positioned as a floor-level or high-level palletizing solution and can vary greatly in complexity. They range from a simple single line with manually placed pallets to a complex system with five packaging lines feeding a single robotic palletizer that builds five different pallet loads simultaneously.
